Performs and documents all procedures and assessments according to department policy. Obtains patient assessment, evaluating diagnosis, previous medical history, existing infusion-related complications, and ordered therapy as it relates to current venous access consult. Administers treatments and medications, interprets and verifies physician orders, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions. Functions appropriately in Code Blue and other clinical emergencies. Demonstrates continuous competency in specific procedures related to venous access and infusion therapy. Provides expert resourcing to staff nurses and other departments as consulted.
