Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Assist in directing and supervising all functions, duties and activities for the department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Grocery operations. RESPONSIBILITIES u00b7 Display a positive attitude; promote trust and respect among associates. u00b7 Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates. u00b7 Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals. u00b7 Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines. u00b7 Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. u00b7 Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products. u00b7 Order, label, stock and inventory department merchandise. u00b7 Execute sales promotions in partnership with store management. u00b7 Use all equipment in grocery department such as refrigerators, freezers, baler, u-boats, compactor, forklift, and pallet jacks according to company guidelines. u00b7 Assist in monitoring and controlling expenses for the department. u00b7 Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory. u00b7 Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering. u00b7 Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy. u00b7 Understand and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss. u00b7 Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks, Videos, etc.) u00b7 Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. u00b7 Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained. u00b7 Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management. u00b7 Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair. u00b7 Notify management of customer or employee accidents. u00b7 Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud. u00b7 Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Effective communication skills Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction) Ability to handle stressful situations Must be at least 18 years of age Current food handlers permit once employed Desired High school education or equivalent preferred Management experience preferred Retail and/or Grocery experience $17.38 - $25.15 per hour
