Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Project Manager Job Description We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Project Manager to drive the execution of complex robotics and manufacturing projects from inception through field deployment. This role is designed for a project leader with a strong mechanical engineering foundation who excels at managing detailed schedules and task lists while remaining hands-on when technical challenges arise. You will act as the primary bridge between engineering, supply chain, and internal logistics groups to ensure the successful build and retrofit of large-scale machines and robotic systems. Responsibilities + Lead the full project lifecycle for custom automation and large-scale mechanical builds, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within scope. + Develop and maintain rigorous project schedules (Integrated Master Schedules) and task lists using Smartsheet and Microsoft Excel. + Collaborate closely with the supply chain team to manage procurement for long-lead parts; occasionally work directly with suppliers to resolve technical or timing issues. + Manage internal logistics for deployments and retrofits in the field, coordinating the movement of large parts and the scheduling of onsite technical teams. + Provide hands-on engineering support by reviewing design packages or assisting in troubleshooting during the build phase. + Serve as the primary point of contact for internal groups, providing clear, data-heavy reporting on project health, risks, and resource allocation. Essential Skills + Bacheloru2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME) or a closely related technical field is highly preferred. + 5+ years of experience in project management or technical leadership within aerospace, automotive, or industrial automation. + Strong background in mechanical design and manufacturing, particularly with low-volume, large-scale parts or complex robotic assemblies. + Proficiency in Smartsheet and Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis). + Proven experience working with suppliers and understanding manufacturing value chains and process flows. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior experience in a design-to-manufacturing environment where you have owned the bridge between engineering and the shop floor. + Familiarity with data tools or similar high-intensity internal project tracking systems. + A proactive, problem-solver mindset capable of navigating the ambiguity of field retrofits and hardware deployments. Work Environment The candidate will work onsite at BOS27 with seldom possible travel to east coast sites during prototype deployment. The role offers hybrid flexibility, balancing remote coordination with onsite presence for builds and field retrofits. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of North Reading, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
