Job Title: Team Leader - Injection Molding Job Description The Injection Molding Team Leader will oversee a small section of the molding department, guiding a handful of production workers. This role involves training, managing, and coaching employees while also performing tasks as a working team lead. Responsibilities + Train and assist associates in performing preventive maintenance tasks. + Set up and operate machinery safely. + Record and dispose of scrap accurately each day, and ensure rework is completed by end of day. + Fill in for associates when necessary. + Operate and assist with process stations on all equipment. + Perform lock-out and tag-out (LTO) procedures for clearing equipment faults and restoring machine energy. + Report any quality or safety non-conformities to the Production Manager. + Complete paperwork and data entry accurately. + Maintain accurate safety and environmental records. + Inspect and measure parts to verify conformance to specifications. + Train and assist associates in adjusting machines to repair non-standard products. + Analyze work problems and assist associates in resolving them. + Monitor absenteeism and maintain time and production records. + Conduct cross-training of associates, maintaining and verifying performance levels and updating records. + Ensure associates understand and follow emergency response procedures. + Monitor and maintain TPM Goals including Safety, Scrap, Customer Defects, and In-Process Defects. + Support continuous improvement programs for Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS). + Report to department management on compliance with monitoring controls. + Implement and enforce EHS programs, ensuring associates meet SWI required PPE standards. + Perform safety audits and propose corrective actions. Essential Skills + Experience in leadership, at least at the team lead level. + Experience setting up plastic molding machines, preferably injection molding, but blow molding and extrusion are acceptable. + Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift. + Proficiency in basic math calculations for monitoring scrap and production numbers. + Ability to lift weights up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Injection molding machine operation experience. + Leadership experience. + Capability to work hands-on while leading a small team, potentially including entry-level employees. Work Environment The work environment is bright and organized, although some production areas may be cramped due to efficient facility use. The facility is not air-conditioned, making it warm near machines during summer. Safety glasses and closed-toed shoes are required in the production area, with gloves provided in some areas. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 6am to 2:30pm, with occasional weekend shifts and an expectation of approximately 50 hours per week. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $46800.00 - $46800.00/yr.
