Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Rehab Team Education and Experience: Med/Surg/Rehab: u2022 Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.u2022 Current Registered Nurse License, in the state of Maine, BSN preferred.u2022 Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. Preferred:u2022 One year of nursing experienceu2022 Bilingual Position Summary: The RN is responsible for managing individualized direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patientpopulations by promoting and restoring patientsu2019 health through the nursing process; collaborating withphysicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing exceptional patient experience by supporting andeducating the patient and family throughout their hospitalization; functions as the patient advocate whileactively following a plan of care responding to changes in condition and/or response to treatments. Essential Duties: u2022 Obtains nursing history, performs nursing assessment and develops plan of care for patients.u2022 Demonstrates ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as perpolicy. This includes adult, geriatric and the general patient population.u2022 Demonstrates a time conscious awareness and ability to prioritize during high acuity situations.u2022 Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patientu2019sage.u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patientand their clinical condition.u2022 Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.u2022 Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technicaland manual skills.u2022 Demonstrates the ability to start peripheral IVu2019s.u2022 Demonstrates the ability to care for post-surgical patients.u2022 Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.u2022 Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and theirfamilies.u2022 Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.u2022 Interacts professionally with patient/family and provides appropriate care and information based onpatient status.u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skillsnecessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.u2022 Able to interpret data about the patientu2019s status in order to identify each patientu2019s age specific needsand provide care needed by the patient group.u2022 Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces thelikelihood of medical/health care errors.u2022 Participation in performance improvement and CQI activities.u2022 Consults other health team members/departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinaryapproach to the patientu2019s needs.u2022 Communicates appropriately and clearly to Director, Nurse Leader, Team Leader, Nursing Supervisor,co-workers and providers.u2022 Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.u2022 Documentation meets current standards and policies.u2022 Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.u2022 Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.u2022 Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.u2022 Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordancewith hospital standards.u2022 Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, currentliterature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice andongoing education.u2022 Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
