VP, AI Enablement Job ID: 260206 Location: DC - L'Enfant Plaza Full/Part Time: Full-Time Posting Open-Close 03/09/2026 - 04/09/2026 Union NRP Regular/Temporary: Regular Job Description Department Marketing Statement: The Vice President, AI Enablement leads enterprise AI strategy and adoption, aligning initiatives with Metro's digital modernization and transformation goals. The role drives AI use across operations, customer experience, safety, infrastructure, and other core functions. The VP provides executive leadership to AI related teams, including Enterprise Architecture, Data Analytics, AI platform and product teams, and Data Governance. This position ensures AI initiatives integrate with enterprise data management and architecture while remaining secure, compliant, scalable, and operationally reliable. This role requires a visionary leader with deep AI expertise and strong knowledge of enterprise data, analytics, software development, operations and maintenance, IT service delivery, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity. The VP will demonstrate strategic leadership to accelerate Metro's AI adoption and support the Chief Digital Officer's broader digital ecosystem and data strategy. Minimum Qualifications Education + Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business, Public Administration, or a related field. Experience + A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in artificial intelligence, advanced data analytics, enterprise data management, data warehousing, software development or digital transformation, including at least eight (8) years of Director-level (or higher) leadership experience in a large, complex organization. + Experience must include at least five (5) years' experience: + Leading enterprise AI or advanced analytics initiatives from strategy through production deployment. + Integrating AI solutions with enterprise data platforms and cloud environments. + Establishing data governance and responsible AI practices in regulated or mission-critical environments. + Holistic approach to enterprise-wide AI enablement. Preferred + Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or related field preferred. + Experience applying AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics in public transportation, transit operations, or other large-scale infrastructure or safety-sensitive environments. Essential Functions + Leads execution of the Authority's enterprise AI enablement plan, translating the digital strategy and roadmap into scalable AI programs that drive measurable operational, safety, customer, and financial impact. + Works closely with peers in Digital Modernization to ensure an integrated, holistic approach to AI enablement as part the evolving digital ecosystem. + Establishes a structured AI use case intake, prioritization, and value realization framework aligned with enterprise policies, goals, security strategy and transformation priorities. + Enables responsible adoption of AI across frontline operations, command centers, infrastructure systems, customer platforms, and enterprise business functions by embedding AI into workflows and decision-making processes. + Oversees selection, procurement or development, deployment, and lifecycle management of AI and machine learning models, ensuring solutions are production-ready, secure, monitored, and continuously optimized. + Ensures AI capabilities are built on governed, high-quality, current /relevant and accessible enterprise data, integrating strong master data management, metadata, lineage, and quality controls into AI development processes. + Establishes and enforces responsible AI standards including model transparency, explainability, bias mitigation, privacy protection, cybersecurity alignment, and regulatory compliance. + Establishes architectural standards and governance frameworks that enable scalable, interoperable, and supports the broader digital ecosystem enterprise. + Directs architectural review processes for AI-related investments, ensuring alignment with transformation priorities and enterprise technology standards. + Defines and leads enterprise AI platform capabilities, including reusable services, model operations, automation frameworks, and analytics environments to support rapid yet controlled AI scaling. + Collaborates closely with peers across the authority to develop responsible AI use policies and procedures and ensure AI integration across systems and technology domains. + Partners with program and project managers to oversee AI program schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management. + Establishes AI performance metrics and dashboards to track business value, operational efficiency, predictive accuracy, model performance, adoption rates, and return on investment. + Leads vendor strategy and evaluation for AI technologies, platforms, and services while ensuring knowledge transfer and internal capability development. + Builds and leads multidisciplinary teams spanning AI engineering, data science, advanced analytics, and governance functions, fostering innovation while ensuring accountability and delivery discipline. + Develops enterprise AI literacy programs to increase organizational understanding, adoption, and responsible use of AI technologies. + Advises the Chief Digital Officer on AI trends, emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and investment priorities. + Advises the Chief Digital Officer on AI trends, emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and investment priorities. Other Functions + Serves on cross-functional Authority-wide managerial working groups. + Supports budget preparation, procurement activities, and capital planning related to AI initiatives. + Represents the Authority in AI-related engagements with public agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions. + Supports audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance activities related to AI and data practices. + Maintains and promotes awareness and accountability with cybersecurity and safety policies and procedures while performing job functions. Promotes a positive cyber awareness and safety culture consistent with the overall Cybersecurity strategy and Agency Safety Plan and Safety Management System principles. + Maintains and promotes awareness and accountability with safety policies and procedures while performing job functions.
