No County Monroe Street Address 620 Westfall Road City Rochester State NY Zip Code 14620 Duties Description The appointee will be responsible for providing psychological services to intellectually disabled and developmentally disabled individuals who reside in our State Operated Residential Programs. Job duties include:1. Assess individuals under Article 15 MHL to determine if criteria are met for involuntary, non-objecting, or voluntary retention. 2. Work with the courts to provide expert testimony when required.3. Work together with the court, AAG, MHLS, psychiatry providers, families, and treatment teams to ensure a continuum of care as well as providing a strong support system for the patient and the highest quality of care for individuals. 4. Supervise unlicensed psychologists and social workers on treatment plans, individual and group therapy, Risk Assessments, and Higher Risk BSPs.5. Oversee staff trainings and provide consultation for staff and clinicians on the units. 6. Provide assessments, counseling, and specialized therapy to individuals on caseload as needed. 7. Ensure compliance with 483 Regulations.8. Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team; participates in team meetings, presents clinical information and observations, and provides consultation, training, and assistance to staff in other disciplines; and coordinates care and treatment planning for individuals.9. Provide staff and clinician training on CPL statuses, forensic topics, and other pertinent topics related to challenging behaviors/ psychiatric diagnoses.10. Create curriculum and oversee competency and restoration groups as well as other therapeutic groups. 11. Participate in complex assessments and/or review clinical documentation to review and/or confirm both diagnostic and behavioral needs of people with ID/DD.12. Professionally and ethically complete treatment planning and documentation requirements in a timely manner. 13. Participate in Psychology Department activities and local agency committees as well as Central Office committees as requested. 14. Assist Chief or Principal Psychologist in providing clinical supervision or fulfillment of other administrative tasks as assigned.15. May teach New Employee Orientation classes on psychology related topics.16. Serves as psychological examiner for those evaluations where a licensed practitioner is required (competency, surrogate decision making, involuntary admission, etc).17. Maintaings professional licensure and continuing education and training requirements. 18. May involve some travel for training purposes and for screening new admissions. HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.u2022 Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 25 ($96,336), Increased hiring rate ($25,077), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000).
