Assists project manager in department budgeting and estimating cost and time for all aspects of repairs or replacements. May preform duties of other department supervisors in their absence if required, including approving work assignments, scheduling shifts, preparing work schedule and other duties assigned. Reads, interprets, and works from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and mechanical illustrations. Reviews drawings and equipment specifications as required for client improvement projects. Performs skilled mechanical repair work on water/wastewater treatment plant equipment and related equipment. Performs skilled mechanical repair work and diagnostics on cogeneration equipment and related auxiliary equipment. Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences. Prepares detailed reports and proposals required to facilitate the duties of a maintenance supervisor. Provides on-the-job training to staff and provides direction as required to facilitate repairs when needed. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical machinery or equipment as needed. Is proficient in the repair, maintenance and fabrication methods required of a supervisor. Professional understanding of the state requirements for biosolids equipment and application, and fleet maintenance requirements for CDL equipment and staff.
