Your job will involve planning, managing, and monitoring a variety of programs and projects related to environmental compliance, permitting, and regulatory oversight. Youu2019ll work closely with internal teams, consultants, regulatory agencies, and contractors to ensure all engineering functions are executed smoothly and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This is a hands-on role where you'll manage engineering projects and provide technical leadership while coordinating with cross-functional teams. The position may oversee or supervise staff as the program grows. Responsibilities also include contributing to budget planning and supporting critical environmental monitoring programs (such as water, air, and waste testing). Duties and Responsibilities + Engineering & Project Management: Lead and manage engineering projects related to environmental monitoring, permits, and regulatory compliance. Oversee tasks such as design, testing, and monitoring of air, water, and waste systems. + Regulatory Compliance & Permitting: Ensure that all regulatory permits are obtained and maintained for solid waste operations. Review and prepare necessary documentation, including reports, technical documents, and permit applications. + Team Coordination & Leadership: Provide technical guidance and coordinate project teams, including internal staff, consultants, and contractors. This position may participate in hiring, training, and supervising technical staff as the program expands. + Budget & Cost Management: Assist with developing project budgets, estimating costs, and managing financials throughout the project lifecycle, including reviewing invoices, handling change requests, and tracking spending. + Collaboration & Communication: Work with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to coordinate projects and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. + Emergency Response: This position is essential during declared county emergency events or natural disasters, requiring flexibility and quick action. + Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices. Assist in developing long-term goals, policies, and strategies for the department. Education, Experience, Licensing Qualifications: + Education: Bacheloru2019s degree in Engineering (required). + Experience: 2 years of engineering or closely related experience (e.g., environmental engineering, waste management, regulatory compliance). + Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) license (required). Skills & Attributes: + Strong project management skills with a focus on timelines, budgets, and quality. + Leadership abilities to motivate and develop a team. + Expertise in environmental regulations and permitting. + Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). + Ability to work independently and take initiative while collaborating with other teams and external stakeholders. + Familiarity with industry best practices and regulatory standards. + Problem-solving mindset and ability to think critically under pressure.
