This entry‑level role is ideal for someone detail‑oriented, eager to learn the DFH industry, and ready to grow into a full estimator position. The Junior Estimator works closely with senior estimators, project managers, and sales staff to ensure bids are complete, competitive, and aligned with customer requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesTakeoffs & Quantification Review architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda to identify door, frame, and hardware requirementsPerform quantity takeoffs for hollow metal frames, wood doors, hollow metal doors, and hardware setsAssist in interpreting hardware schedules, elevations, and life‑safety requirementsEnter takeoff data into estimating software or internal templates with accuracy and consistencyBid Preparation Support senior estimators in preparing quotes, pricing sheets, and submittal packagesRequest vendor pricing for doors, frames, hardware, specialty products, and accessoriesOrganize bid documents, RFIs, and correspondence to ensure complete bid packagesTrack bid deadlines and ensure deliverables are submitted on timeTechnical & Product Knowledge Learn manufacturer product lines (e.g., Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, Steelcraft, Curries, VT, Masonite)Understand basic code requirements including fire ratings, ADA, egress, and life‑safety considerationsDevelop familiarity with hardware functions, handing, and applicationCollaboration & Communication Work closely with senior estimators to review takeoffs and verify accuracyCommunicate with vendors, reps, and internal teams to clarify product detailsParticipate in handoff meetings with project management after awardAdministrative & Support Tasks Maintain organized digital files for drawings, quotes, and project documentsUpdate CRM/ERP systems with bid information and status changesAssist with revisions, VE options, and re‑quotes as neededMiscellaneousSupport our values in the stand areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customersOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequiredStrong attention to detail and ability to read construction drawingsProficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic computer skillsExcellent organizational and time‑management abilitiesStrong math and analytical skillsClear written and verbal communicationEntry Level - Two year's experiencePreferred (but not required)Experience in construction, building materials, or DFH industryFamiliarity with Bluebeam, Comsense, Protech, or similar estimating toolsUnderstanding of commercial hardware functions and terminologySuccess Traits Curious and eager to learn the DFH tradeComfortable working with technical details and complex product dataTeam‑oriented with a positive, solutions‑focused mindsetAble to manage multiple bids and shifting prioritiesTakes pride in accuracy and craftsmanship in their workReports ToDirector of SalesCompensation The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market.
