Do you enjoy working on technically complex challenges where your contributions directly support resilient, efficient, and future‑focused power delivery?CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Utility Engineer III to join our Electric Transmission Team in Hartford, CT or remotely. In this role, you will support overhead transmission initiatives that modernize the grid, improve system performance, and prepare energy infrastructure for future demands. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise to high‑impact projects while growing your skills alongside experienced transmission engineers.This position offers fully remote capabilities; however, occasional on-site responsibilities may be required if you are located near a CHA office.Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for electric overhead transmission infrastructure projects, such as rebuilding existing overhead transmission lines and designing new green field transmission linesDevelop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadershipIdentify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices that support grid reliability, safety, and infrastructure resilienceMonitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical electric transmission system initiativesTake responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering requiredMinimum of 3 years of related engineering experience requiredExperience estimating substation/distribution/transmission projects requiredEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferredStrong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settingsUnderstanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standardsProficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office, including Excel, requiredProficiency with Automative Takeoffs (Bluebeam, Sage, etc) is preferredExcellent communication skills and a collaborative mindsetParticipation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferredCollaborate with an expert team of engineers and project managers dedicated to advancing resilient energy infrastructureFlexible work environment with opportunities for local and occasional travelMake a tangible impact by supporting grid resiliency, energy transition solutions, and sustainable power delivery through innovative engineering workCurious about the impactful work our Electric Transmission team is doing?
