Learn more here: SDC AshburnAbout This RoleThe Data Center Operations Engineer 2 plays a hands-on role in maintaining and optimizing mission-critical infrastructure within Sabey’s data center environments. This role supports the day-to-day operations of mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems that keep customer equipment operating reliably.Working closely with the operations team, you will monitor facility performance, perform preventive maintenance, respond to system alerts, and help ensure the highest levels of uptime and operational excellence across the campus.Your Contribution Will Likely IncludeSupporting the day-to-day operations of mission-critical infrastructure including power distribution, HVAC systems, and environmental controlsMonitoring facility systems to ensure optimal environmental conditions for server operationsResponding to alarms and system alerts, investigating root causes, and implementing corrective actionsPerforming routine and preventive maintenance on data center infrastructure and equipmentDiagnosing abnormal system conditions and documenting incidents and resolutionsMaintaining awareness of equipment health and operational status through monitoring platforms and dashboardsAssisting with inventory tracking of hardware assets, including equipment specifications, serial numbers, and physical locationsSupporting procurement and tracking of replacement parts and equipment when necessaryMaintaining documentation related to equipment configurations, infrastructure layouts, and cable connectionsCoordinating with external vendors and contractors during equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance workSupporting disaster recovery and business continuity readiness within the facilityParticipating in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support incident response and operational continuityContributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and reliabilityStaying current on emerging technologies and operational best practices within the data center industryLeveraging modern tools, including automation and AI platforms, to streamline operational tasks and documentation Experience You Will BringHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or coursework related to data center operations are a plusExperience working with mechanical, electrical, or controls systems in a critical facilities environmentExperience maintaining infrastructure in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, industrial plants, or similar environments preferredAbility to quickly learn complex facility systems using technical documentation and operations manualsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesDetail-oriented mindset with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and operational recordsStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations teams and external partnersComfort working in environments that require both preventive maintenance and rapid incident responseAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high operational standardsProficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and related platformsAptitude and willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies, including AI-enabled toolsSabey's Investment in YouSabey is committed to building an enduring, next-generation company that values and invests in the success of its team members.
