Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - Senior Status: Full Time Department: Respiratory Care Location: Rochester General Hospital Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule: Day & Night 12-hour shifts, 7-7:30; 4 weekend shifs per 4-week block Sign-On Bonus: Up to $15k. SUMMARY: In any patient care setting, a Senior Respiratory Therapist will implement and update care plans, perform cardiopulmonary evaluation, administer respiratory therapy treatments and therapies, and provide education to the patient, family, other team members, students, and the public. The Senior Respiratory Therapist will also provide administrative support to the Respiratory Care Department. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Patient Assessment & Care Planning: Reviews patient records and clinical data to develop and update individualized respiratory care plans; advises providers on appropriate respiratory interventions. + Therapeutic & Diagnostic Procedures: Administers and documents a wide range of respiratory therapies, including medication delivery, airway management, oxygen therapy, ventilator support, and diagnostic testing. + Equipment Management & Monitoring: Prepares, checks, and maintains respiratory equipment; monitors clinical parameters and adjusts treatment based on patient response. + Collaboration & Communication: Works closely with the healthcare team to coordinate care, communicates patient status, and provides education to patients and families. + Leadership & Training: Senior therapists lead shifts, mentor new staff, participate in education and quality initiatives, and support operations in inpatient or outpatient settings. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Associateu2019s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent certificate + 2 years of previous full-time critical care experience in respiratory care is required; part-time and per diem experience will be prorated to determine eligibility. + N ew York State Respiratory Therapist license with current registration + Current NBRC RRT credential is required for all Respiratory Therapists entering the field after 9/1993 + ACLS certification (current) required within one year of hire + Respiratory therapists employed in non-acute (pulmonary or long-term care) areas are excluded from the ACLS requirement EDUCATION: AS: Respiratory Therapy (Required) LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), RT - Respiratory Therapist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)New York State Education Department (NYSED) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. PAY RANGE: $37.08 - $48.41 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14621 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
