Must attend meetings/training at headquarters in Austin, TX as required by management.GENERAL DESCRIPTIONOur mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.The Lead Data Analyst performs advanced (senior-level) data analysis that provides for the daily operations of the team. Work involves providing oversight and direction for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating activities mandated or assigned to the Data Management Office Team. Serves as subject matter expert regarding analysis of the Texas Department of Motor Vehiclesand#8217; data. Monitors Data Team activities and guides activities to serve agency TxDMV analytics needs. Develops priorities and standards for accomplishing goals. Provides data management and data analysis expertise. Oversee activities for the Data Management Office working with internal and external agencies and it's underlying data. Designs detailed procedures that ensure data quality. Oversee a team to produce routine and ad hoc data reports, as well as contribute to reports, presentations, and internal documentation of standards. Activities are performed to meet agency objectives including short-term and long-term objectives. Performs duties under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL DUTIESSupervise a team of data analysts, including assigning work, monitoring workload balance, and ensuring deadlines are met.Support the development of longand#8209;term analytics strategy and team roadmap.Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new analysts.Establish performance expectations and track progress against goals.Recommend investments in analytics tools or professional development.Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex data models, dashboards, and analytical solutions supporting enterprise-wide decisionand#8209;making.Conduct advanced statistical analysis, data mining, forecasting, and trend analysis to identify operational insights and performance improvement opportunities.Oversee data quality management processes, including profiling, validation, and cleansing activities across enterprise data sources.Serve as a senior technical analyst and subjectand#8209;matter expert on data governance, metadata standards, and enterprise information architecture.Provide strategic guidance to leadership using dataand#8209;driven recommendations related to motor vehicle operations, compliance, licensing, fraud detection, and customer service improvement.Mentor junior analysts on analytical methodologies, tools, visualizations, and best practices.Develop highand#8209;impact reports and visualizations for executive leadership, the Texas Legislature, and external stakeholders.Coordinate with internal divisions and external partners to integrate datasets, automate reporting workflows, and enhance enterprise analytics capabilities.Lead or participate in special projects requiring expertand#8209;level analytical leadership and crossand#8209;functional collaboration.Ensure compliance with state data standards, privacy laws, and TxDMV information security policies.Serve as the primary point of contact between the analytics team and business units.Enforce data quality, data governance, and reporting standards across the analytics team.May travel up to 5% of the time. Travels by car (may include flying). May include overnight travel.
