Solution Architecture JG3 Houston, TX Hybrid Contract $110/hr - $113.79/hr Our Energy client in Houston is looking for a Solutions Architect for a Database Platform Architect contract. Duration: Through the end of the year Project: Moving Oracle OnPrem to the Azure SQL Server Cloud. This is a hybrid role within our client's Houston, TX offices and remote. At least 2 to 3 days a week in office. Daily Tasks: + Architect the Azure SQL Server platform u2014 not just set it up + Migration strategy: Oracle to SQL Server (data + logic) + PL/SQL to T-SQL conversion and equivalence strategy + Database sizing, right-tiering, and performance tuning + Backup and disaster recovery for 15TB+ database on Azure + Ongoing tuning through development, integration testing, and UAT + Work with engineering teams on infrastructure and long-term health Requirements: + Led large Oracle ? SQL Server migrations + Azure SQL platform architecture (not just deployment) + Database performance tuning and bottleneck analysis + Designed backup and DR strategies for large databases (15TB+ scale preferred) Whatu2019s the role Key responsibilities include: 1. As the organization grows, your role is expected to evolve, offering continuous opportunities for development, influence, and leadership. u2022 Serve as the primary contact for architectural aspects of IT projects. u2022 Integrate business process, data, application, technical, and information security dimensions into cohesive IT solutions. u2022 Ensure solution architectures are documented using standard templates and tooling complying with our clientu2019s architectural standards. u2022 Guide detailed designers and business analysts during the design phase. u2022 Review and formally approve detailed solution designs. u2022 Support Lead Architect and participate in Architecture Review Board sessions as required.
