Senior Claims Specialist u2013 Medical Malpractice & Complex Commercial Liability Location: 100% Remote (U.S.) Contract Duration: 6 Months (Contract-to-Hire Potential) Pay: $36u2013$45 per hour About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Claims Specialist with deep expertise in complex medical malpractice claims, along with exposure to broader commercial liability claims. This role is ideal for candidates who have managed high-severity healthcareu2011related losses and are also comfortable handling select complex commercial exposures such as general liability, auto liability, or professional liability. In this position, you will independently manage a sophisticated caseload involving hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, and healthcare systemsu2014while also supporting commercial claim files that require analytical rigor and strong coverage interpretation. This is a fully remote contract role with the possibility of extension or conversion into a longu2011term opportunity. Key Responsibilities + Manage a portfolio of high-exposure medical malpractice claims, including catastrophic injury, institutional healthcare claims, and physician liability cases. + Handle a smaller subset of complex commercial liability claims, applying strong coverage knowledge and investigative skills. + Conduct thorough investigations, including reviewing medical records, interviewing insureds/claimants, evaluating standardu2011ofu2011care issues, and determining liability and damages. + Verify coverage by interpreting policy provisions across both healthcare and commercial lines of business. + Establish and adjust reserves accurately and in a timely manner. + Develop and execute strategic claim resolution plans, including negotiation, litigation oversight, and settlement strategy. + Collaborate with attorneys, medical experts, and internal commercial claims partners to move claims toward resolution. + Identify subrogation, salvage, and fraud indicators and initiate appropriate referrals. + Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain complete, detailed claim documentation. + Prepare and present concise claim summaries, including escalation of highu2011risk or highu2011value files to leadership. Required Qualifications + Extensive experience handling complex medical malpractice claims (hospital, nursing home, physician, or other healthcare entity claims). + Proven ability to independently manage high-severity, highu2011limit claims. + Background handling commercial liability claims such as general liability, auto liability, or professional malpractice. + Active adjuster license in multiple states. + Strong understanding of coverage analysis, litigation management, and healthcareu2011related legal issues. + Ability to write detailed coverage letters and explain complex determinations clearly. + Excellent investigative, analytical, and negotiation skills. Preferred Qualifications + Experience with enterprise claims platforms or claims center systems. + Hybrid Background combining medical malpractice litigation (paralegal/attorney) with handsu2011on claims handling (required if legal experience is present). + Familiarity with claims involving limits of $1M or higher. Work Environment + 100% remote during the contract phase. + Contract-to-hire potential depending on business need. + If hired permanently, hybrid work (2 days/week onsite) may be required at a U.S. office.
