The Senior Director will shape a comprehensive medical physics innovation and technology program that accelerates discovery, advances precision therapeutics, and redefi nes how radiation therapy is delivered and optimized. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), a world leader in cancer care and discovery, invites applications for a transformative leader to serve as Senior Director of Medical Physics Innovation and Technology at the Professor level within the DFCI Department of Radiation Oncology. DFCI and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center are embarking on an exciting new collaboration across radiation oncology and plan to unite the two radiation oncology departments in the near future. The Senior Director will work within the forthcoming united department. This is a rare opportunity to defi ne the future of radiation oncology at one of the worldu2019s most infl uential cancer centers. We seek an accomplished, visionary physicist-scientist to lead and expand a bold, technology-driven enterprise at the intersection of translational science, computational innovation, and next-generation clinical care. The Senior Director will shape a comprehensive medical physics program that accelerates discovery, advances precision therapeutics, and redefi nes how radiation therapy is delivered and optimized. The successful candidate will oversee programs in areas such as advanced radiation delivery technologies, inclusive of new particle therapy and other potential new technologies, quantitative imaging, image-guided and adaptive radiotherapy, radiobiological modeling, AI-driven treatment optimization, radiomics, and integration of molecular biomarkersu2014including circulating tumor DNA and MRD approachesu2014into radiation treatment paradigms. The Director will work with a medical physics staff of ~15 FTEs plus new anticipated hires, will contribute to our teaching and research and will work closely with clinical leadership to ensure seamless translation of novel technologies and methodologies into clinical practice. The Director will work closely with clinical leadership and research partners across Dana-Farber, BIDMC, and the broader Boston ecosystem to ensure that novel methodologies move rapidly from concept to clinic. Key responsibilities include: Providing strategic and scientifi c leadership for the Medical Physics Research Division Identifying and advancing high-impact research directions in partnership with clinical leaders Building innovative collaborations with industry and technology partners Recruiting, mentoring, and developing the next generation of physics research investigators Leading multi-investigator and multi-institutional grant initiatives (NIH, DoD, foundations u00b7 Maintaining an independently funded research program Elevating the national and international profi le of DFCIu2019s physics research enterprise The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized leader in medical physics with: u00b7 A strong track record of bringing practice-changing technologies into the clinic u00b7 A sustained record of independent, externally funded research (NIH or equivalent) u00b7 Infl uential publications and high-impact scholarship u00b7 Demonstrated success in leading complex research programs u00b7 A strong track record of mentorship and faculty development u00b7 The vision and drive to shape the next era of precision radiation oncology Candidates must hold a PhD (or equivalent) in medical physics, physics, engineering, or a related discipline, with an established national or international reputation in radiation oncology research. ABR certifi cation is preferred, but not required, for this position. Pay Transparency Statement The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidateu2019s relevant experience, skills and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $200,000.00 - $450,000.00
