This position develops and executes strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward transformational gifts that support endowment, capital, and programmatic priorities. The Director works closely with Trustees, museum leadership, and colleagues across Advancement to strengthen relationships and align fundraising with institutional goals. Specifically, you will: u2022 Develop, implement, and refine a comprehensive strategy for the Major Gifts program to grow the pipeline of high-capacity prospects ($25,000+), emphasizing sustainable, long-term donor relationships. u2022 Personally manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, developing and executing individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans. u2022 Conduct face-to-face solicitations and coordinate donor meetings with senior staff and Trustees. u2022 Supervise, mentor, and support a team of Major Gifts Officers (currently two), establishing clear performance expectations and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture. u2022 Partner with the Senior Director of Individual Giving and other Advancement colleagues to align major gift strategies with broader institutional and donor priorities. u2022 Identify and cultivate prospective donors from the museum membership and wider community to expand the donor base. u2022 Serve as a liaison to curatorial or program departments to translate institutional priorities into philanthropic opportunities. u2022 Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of donor interactions in the museumu2019s prospect management system. u2022 Lead internal portfolio reviews and support collaborative moves management processes. u2022 Support special projects or initiatives as requested. u2022 Perform other related duties as assigned. Your background and experience include: u2022 Minimum of 10 years of progressive major gift or individual fundraising experience, preferably in a cultural or nonprofit institution. u2022 Demonstrated success cultivating and soliciting major gifts, generally in the six-figure range, with a focus on long-term donor relationships. u2022 Experience supervising and mentoring fundraising staff. u2022 Strong leadership, strategic, and analytical skills. u2022 Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail. u2022 Ability to articulate institutional priorities and align them with donor interests. u2022 Proficiency with CRM/fundraising databases (Raiseru2019s Edge preferred) and Microsoft Office. u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree required; advanced degree preferred. u2022 Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and integrity in all interactions. Position and Compensation Details + The salary for this position is $140,000. + This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and 35 hours per week. + This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit. + This position reports to Senior Director, Individual Giving + Physical requirements: + Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus + Background check required after a conditional job offer is made.
