Whether enhancing existing transportation networks or pioneering new mobility solutions, DEA's knowledge helps shape a future where safe, efficient, convenient, and accessible mobility leads the way for sustainable growth and improved quality of life in our communities.Our Olympia, WA office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Transportation Intern position to support our Roads and Highways group while working on transportation related projects. The successful candidate will work on multidiscipline projects performing independent engineering calculations and design, using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings. The work may include developing plans for freeway, highway and local roadways, sidewalk and ADA improvements, signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, storm water facilities, and cost estimating. This work will also entail performing technical writing, quantity calculations, developing construction documents, and all supporting documentation.What You'll DoKey Responsibilities:Coordinate with supervisor, project managers, and project team staffSupport design and preparation of plans in AutoCAD and MicroStation softwareAnalyze maps, reports, drawings, and as-builts for design projectsSupport preparation of reports and quantity calculations for projectsWhat You BringRequired Qualifications:Applicants must be in the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, with at least 2+ years of completed course work from an ABET accredited programProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)Exposure to MicroStation and/or AutoCAD skillsAbility to communicate and work in a team-oriented environmentDemonstrate strong communication skills including active listeningWillingness to ask questionsWhat We OfferWe foster an environment where talented professionals have the freedom and support to do their most meaningful work.
