Job Title: Senior Clinical Manager Ambulatory RN Department: Dickens Center Location: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania - 3400 Spruce St Hours: Mon-Fri office hours Summary: + The Department of OBGYN is seeking a Senior Clinical Nurse Manager who is relational, highly organized, intrinsically motivated, and an experienced change agent. This individual will be responsible for the oversight of daily clinical operations for the Helen O. Dickens Center, an ambulatory site of the Hospital of the University of PA providing the highest level of comprehensive gynecologic and obstetric care and education to women within the Philadelphia community through every stage of life. The Center serves as an educational training site for residents, medical and nursing programs, supports research projects and innovation initiatives and has established partnerships with city and community agencies to support access and adjunct programs and services. This position is designed to be 70% administrative and 30% clinical. The incumbent will be responsible for direct oversight of APPs, RNs, LPNs, and collaborative oversight of clinical, non-nursing positions with practice-based leadership team members. The position is Monday u2013 Friday and a limited hybrid work schedule will be supported when operationally feasible. The Senior Clinical Manager will work collaboratively with practice management, faculty, and multidisciplinary staff (social workers, dieticians, nurses, medical assistants), to provide the highest quality of care, while ensuring compliance with regulatory, infection control, quality and patient satisfaction standards, employee engagement, top of scope practice and compliance with nursing standards. Collaboration will be expected with Department Leadership, Department Divisional Administrators, Division Chiefs and Medical Directors. + The Senior Clinical Manager is responsible for consistent and comprehensive patient care delivery in the ambulatory practice setting. The Senior Clinical Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction, education, research initiatives, and patient confidentiality. The Senior Clinical Manager demonstrates that employee and partner satisfaction is a precursor to patient satisfaction. The Senior Clinical Manager's role is to balance and achieve all three: Patient, Employee, and Partner Satisfaction. The Senior Clinical Manager is responsible for continually assessing the clinical care team to ensure quality, compliance with governmental agencies, and patient access. + Typical scope for this role is: u2022 15+ = # of staff directly and indirectly managed u2022 20,000+ = # of budgeted annual visits u2022 Complexity Factors (may involve a few of the following factors of practice complexity): multiple practice locations, high practice/facility square footage, service line oversight, coordination of inpatient services, coordination of care across several departments/entities, academic involvement (research initiatives, resident program), special clinical programs, multiple clinical specialties, complex regulatory requirements, management of external partnerships/collaborations. Manages and oversees schedules, pay practices, and time card review approval. Clinical project management. Strategic and operational planning. Quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. Penn Safety Net Management. Regulatory compliance (TJC, CMS, DOH, OSHA). + Maintain a focus on Quality and Safety Priorities including but not limited to the application of a quality improvement framework (FOCUS PDSA), High Reliable Organization principles, and safety event follow-up. + Patient Care: Provides oversight to the team as it relates to the seamless delivery high high-quality and safe care using effective processes and tools. + Communication: Fosters an environment where proactive communication and problem-solving are expected. Establishes communication expectations that enable high performance of team and individuals. + Change Management Provides support to entity and practice leadership to proactively develop change management strategies for major organizational and practice activities and events. Implements change management strategy within the practice in alignment with entity/Penn Medicine. Manage routine and crisis communications through the practice/community as they arise. Demonstrate recognition of the systemic impact of employee communications to and/or policy changes and solicit proactive feedback before implementation. + Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures. + Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization. Credentials: + Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required) + Registered Nurse - PA (Required) + ACLS or BCLS or PALS (Required) Education or Equivalent Experience: + Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required) + And 7+ years Total clinical experience which includes prior RN and leadership experience.
