If so, then welcome to Schnabel We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Our Helena, Montana office is seeking a mid-level civil engineer to support our engineering group. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong, multi-disciplinary team. This position offers a balanced combination of technical work and project management responsibilities. The Helena office of Schnabel focuses on the evaluation and design of dams, hydraulic structures, surface water intakes, fish hatcheries, pump stations, outlet works, pipelines, fabricated gates and valves, and similar project types within our dams engineering group. These projects are located across the United States. Our clients include utility owners, state and federal agencies, private power producers, and conservation groups. Projects often require multi-disciplinary solutions and regular collaboration with other consulting firms. You would be joining an intelligent, dedicated, and enthusiastic group of engineers and designers. Job Responsibilities: + Analyze and design components related to water infrastructure, including gates, valves, bulkheads, pipelines, pumps, steel fabrications, reinforced concrete, geotechnical evaluations, and hydrologic analysis. + Participate in design quality control efforts, including development of design standards. + Perform inspections of dams and hydraulic structures and collect data and measurements in the field. Create detailed assessment reports of field conditions. + Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports. + Assist in the preparation of complete engineering plans and specifications to be part of construction documents. + Work with business development and branch staff to effectively respond to requests for proposals or presentation of qualifications in other forums. + Prepare 2D design drawings using AutoCAD. + Prepare 3D design models and drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D & Autodesk Revit. + Perform construction inspection with opportunities for long-term field assignments. + Work as a team member within the Helena office and across other Schnabel offices to effectively balance workload among available resources. + Manage and mentor junior engineers, commensurate with experience level. + Periodic travel will be required. Required Skills/Experience: + A Bachelor's degree focused in civil engineering, from an ABET-accredited institution. + 5+ years of relevant work experience in Civil, Water Resources, Mechanical and/or Structural Engineering around hydraulic structures. + Hold a current Professional Engineer license, or ability to become a Licensed Professional Engineer within 6 months of hire. + Ability to manage simultaneous tasks and multi-discipline projects throughout the full project cycle. + Experience preparing and reviewing construction drawings and technical specifications for bidding and construction. + Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders, and work outside. + Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel. + Experience and interest with the following types of projects: + Dams + Hydropower plants + Pump stations + Surface water intakes + Fish hatcheries + Large diameter pipelines, fittings, pipe supports, and valves + Machine design + Fabricated steel structures + Proficiency with the latest version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, & Autodesk Revit. + Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. + Have a positive attitude and work well in a team environment. + A strong work ethic and the desire to perform professionally at a high level. Preferred Skills/Experience: + A Master's degree in civil or structural engineering. The compensation range for this position is between $73,000 to $110,pensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
