University of Rochester: Office of the Provost: University of Rochester Medical Center: School of Medicine and Dentistry: Radiation Oncology Salary Range or Pay Grade $100,000 - $500,000 Description The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is seeking an exceptional scientist for a full-time non-tenure track Research Assistant/Associate Professor position. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Randall Kimple to contribute substantially to a research program focused on radiosensitizers in head and neck and other cancers and cellular therapies to mitigate radiation-induced toxicities. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding translational research environment within the Wilmot Cancer Institute, leveraging state-of-the-art facilities, strong clinical collaborations, and a robust cancer biology community. Responsibilities: u00b7 Develop and lead an independent research program aligned with departmental priorities in radiation oncology and cancer biology. u00b7 Collaborate with Dr. Kimple and other investigators on studies involving radiosensitizers, radiation response, and cellular therapy approaches. u00b7 Design and execute experiments in molecular biology, pharmacology, DNA damage and repair, and cellular signaling. u00b7 Contribute to grant writing, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of research findings. u00b7 Mentor trainees, including graduate students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows. u00b7 Participate in departmental seminars, collaborative initiatives, and program development activities. Qualifications Required: u00b7 PhD in pharmacology, cancer biology, biology, biotechnology, or a closely related discipline. u00b7 Minimum of five years of experience developing and applying cell-based and in vivo assays relevant to radiation and cancer biology. u00b7 Demonstrated expertise in molecular and cellular techniques central to studying radiation response, DNA repair, and cancer signaling pathways. u00b7 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a diverse research team. Preferred: u00b7 Proven ability to organize resources, manage multiple priorities, and maintain research momentum in a fast-paced laboratory environment. u00b7 Experience contributing to multidisciplinary collaborations and mentoring trainees. u00b7 Evidence of research productivity through publications, presentations, or grant activity.
