UCH is a not-for-profit, non-tax-supported group practice and is here to serve the community while providing medical excellence to our patients.Position Summary:The Pathology Courier is responsible for picking up and delivering medical specimens, supplies, and packages for the Pathology Lab. This position requires walking for extended periods of time and use of own vehicle for travel. The Pathology Courier is expected to walk and drive scheduled recurring routes as well as adhoc pickups/deliveries.Key Results Areas (KRAs):Must have a courteous and pleasant demeanorResponsible for specimen pick-ups at all outpatient clinics and transfer of tissue to Pathology labResponsible for transport of slides, cassettes, and specimens between Pathology lab, Histology, DermPath, Dental School, West Tennessee Forensics Center, Methodist University Hospital, and the VAResponsible for transport of collection kits and supplies to various client locationsOpens and sorts incoming tissue specimens, ensuring accuracy of container to requisitionPrepares tissue specimens for gross examinationAccurately files and retrieves histology/cytology slides and blocksPerform weekly disposal of tissue specimensAssist with frozen section procedures as neededAssist with interdepartmental phone calls as well as calls from clients and physiciansExtensive daily travel requiredOther duties as assigned.Core CompetenciesFollows guidelines set up by HIPAA, local, state, and federal regulationsDetail OrientedAbility to work independently and with a teamExcellent customer service and communication skillsFollows safety guidelines as indicated in the safety manualCommitted to supporting UCHs standard to medical excellenceEducation and Experience:Must be at least 21 years of age RequiredMust have a valid TN drivers license and satisfactory driving record RequiredMust own reliable vehicle and proper auto
