Position: Alumni Services Associate (College & Career Counselor)Campus: Home/Central Office (On-Site)Reports to: Director of Alumni Services United Schools (United) is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio. After founding its first school in 2008, it has worked together with incredible leaders to open three more schools in the span of ten years. Each United campus is an open enrollment, public charter school that works diligently to close the opportunity gap in Columbus. Moreover, the mission of all United campuses is to transform lives and our communities through the power of education, while maintaining our vision: For every child, an open door. United currently operates two high-performing elementary schools (K-5) and two high-performing middle schools (6-8) that serve more than 900 students. We strive to provide students with a rigorous academic experience in a joyful learning environment, and we work hard to ensure that students of all levels grow and succeed by focusing on intentional student support and continual improvement. Position DescriptionAt United Schools, the Alumni Services Associate plays a key role in supporting students as they transition from middle school into high school and beyond. Working under the direction of the Director of Alumni Services, the Associate helps prepare 8th-grade students for high school and provides ongoing advising and support to United alumni during their high school years. The Associate meets regularly with students to provide college and career guidance, monitors progress toward graduation, and shares opportunities related to post-secondary pathways. The role also includes maintaining alumni data, collaborating with school teams and high school partners, and supporting programming that keeps alumni connected to United Schools and on a path toward successful post-secondary outcomes.Key Responsibilities:Provide 1:1 college and career counseling to sophomores, juniors, and seniors, which requires commuting to local high schools for meetings and conducting virtual appointments for students who live out of the area. Maintain accurate caseload records and student data. Creates and facilitates quarterly check-in agendas focused on each students post-secondary pathway (college, military, trade, or work). Build a wealth of knowledge about different resources and opportunities, including United events, to share with students to support their post-secondary pathway.Assist the Director of Alumni Services on special projects, tier-two services, and data collection. Team members maintain a sense of calm while addressing a number of priorities.Qualifications:Holds a B.A./B.S. degree; an advanced degree in school counseling and licensure is preferred.Has successful experience working in an urban school (preferred).Has a drivers license and a reliable source of transportation.Knowledge and Skills:Has knowledge of high school graduation requirements as well as post-secondary and career pathways.Ability to build strong relationships across diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrate a high level of professional maturity including emotional constancy in stressful situations.Has a keen self-awareness of ones own strengths and weaknesses.Is open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team municates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.Proficient using Google and Microsoft products, especially spreadsheet applications. Terms of EmploymentAlthough this position will begin July 1, 2026, applications will be considered immediately.This is a full-time position. Report times are typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., although some job-related tasks can be expected outside of these hours.Salary: The starting salary for a new Alumni Services Associate with a Bachelors degree is $49,000.
