Carlson Design Group is seeking a talented Structural Engineer III to join our growing engineering team. This role will support clients across the Data Center, Light Industrial, and Commercial sectors as part of our continued business expansion.Location:Detroit, MI including some travel. HybridYour key responsibilities include:Acts as the lead structural engineer responsible for: scoping the project, coordinating with other disciplines, obtaining necessary information to execute the work, and preparing conceptual designs, corrections to field issues as well as complete designsRequires an experienced, competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require creative solutions in structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, wood, and light-gage steel designsProvide technical design support to the design team including overseeing and assisting with the development of less-experienced engineersResponsible for the preparation and review of Contract Documents in compliance with the project program, building design, schedule and budgetTo qualify for the role, you must have:BSCE in Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university8+ years related work experienceLicensed Engineer (at least one state) and NCEES Accredited (preferred)Strong computer skills in structural analysis programs, e.g., RAM software suite, ENERCALC, AutoCAD, Revit and competency with Microsoft Office Suite and BluebeamIdeally, you’ll also have:Data Center experience is a plusPrecast, reinforced (tilt-up) concrete designSkills and attributes for success:Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and critical thinking skillsMastery of the model codesExhibits strong written and verbal communication abilitiesWorks independently with self-motivationCarlson Design Group is an equal opportunity employer.
