This is a professional and technical position responsible for maintaining computing environments, identifying system requirements, handling repairs, installing upgrades, and monitoring network operations and efficiency for the client. Set up permissions and workstations, perform upgrades, and patch vulnerabilities in network systems. Supports the deployment, management, and stability of local and wide-area network infrastructure technologies for mission-critical business systems. Assesses, implements, designs, configures, and troubleshoots Operational Support Systems (OSS), ensuring successful project completion and delivery of systems and solutions to the operational environment. Additionally, this role involves planning, evaluating, and implementing approved system and network changes and upgrades, as well as providing tier 3 support for hardware, software, network, and LAN/WAN problem resolution.The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the workload.Operations Center ManagementPerformance of maintenance activities on behalf of technical or application management teams or departmentsManagement of the physical IT environment, data center, or server rooms, and recovery sitesNetwork and network device performance monitoring and diagnosticsNetwork troubleshooting and problem resolutionEnterprise ArchitectureContribute to the design of secure and resilient technology architecturesContribute to the design of measurement methods and metricsContribute to the creation and maintenance of IT specifications, designs, architectures, topologies, and configurations of the infrastructureTranslate logical designs into physical designsWork with capacity management and review IT traffic volumes and requirements, and identify trends in traffic flows and levels of serviceEnsure external IT services are compliant with agreed service levels and targetsContribute to IT standards, policy, and designParticipate in the design aspects of all stages of the lifecycle of IT systemsWork within established configuration and change management System SupportSupport the scheduling and implementation of Network ComponentsVideo ConferencingUninterruptable Power SuppliesEnsure all systems, operating documentation, and knowledge bases are up to date and properly utilizedService Delivery SupportResolve issues escalated by Service Desk for troubleshootingLiaise with IT personnel to resolve problemsAssist with the handling of major incidentsRecurring ActivitiesPhysical Datacenter monitoring/walkthroughMonitor the status of networking equipmentManage clients' mobile devices and provide the support neededMonitor/Manage Video Conferencing units/Polycom Video Border ProxyKeep supervisors abreast of current issues and potential problems as they develop; seek advice as neededFollow adequate safety procedures while carrying out all duties.Monitor/Manage VOIP assigned line URIsPrepare and Evaluate Monthly Verizon wireless bill to turn in to Accounts PayableDocument and Evaluate Monthly user wireless usageCheck for System Center updatesCheck for BLOC system/client updatesReview Lync Response Group reportsAdditional ResponsibilitiesResponsible for stability, availability, and reliability of equipment (routers, switches, network devices, etc.)Ensure that all assigned systems operate at peak efficiency and meet established security guidelines, in concert with the Information Security teamProvide periodic after-hours support, especially for monthly network maintenanceParticipate in testing of new hardware and software under the guidance of the IT Operations ManagerParticipate in the client’s data disaster recovery planPerform audits on the network equipmentTrainingLAN Administrators are expected to utilize training materials to keep skills relevant Mentor Service Desk team membersYEARS OF EXPERIENCEA minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a production networked environmentExperience with the customer’s installed product base is preferred.EDUCATIONAn associate degree or bachelor’s degree with coursework in information management, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience in network support. A+, MCDST, and other Microsoft certifications are highly desired.CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSRelevant manufacturer certifications are desirable.
