Job Description We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the product development of minimally invasive surgical devices. The role involves designing electro-mechanical systems, developing prototypes, executing engineering protocols, and supporting the design transfer to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and hands-on execution skills in a regulated environment. Responsibilities + Design and develop detailed models and drawings for fixtures and prototype components using SolidWorks and GD&T with tight tolerances. + Create short-run fixtures to support product testing, assembly, and verification. + Engage in hands-on fabrication, building fixtures using 3D printing, machining, and manual assembly, followed by testing and validation. + Document design iterations and testing in compliance with ISO standards within a regulated environment. + Ensure fixture designs are manufacturable and cost-efficient for small-batch builds. Essential Skills + 7+ years of mechanical design experience in regulated industries, with a strong preference for the medical device sector. + Bacheloru2019s or Masteru2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering. + Advanced expertise in SolidWorks and GD&T. + Proven experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), tooling/fixture design, and manufacturing support. + Strong understanding of materials, mechanics, and tolerance analysis. + Ability to manage projects and interface with cross-functional teams and vendors. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in working directly with Senior R&D leaders on high-impact surgical device technology. + Experience in a startup culture with fast iteration cycles and immediate feedback. + Hands-on prototyping and fabrication experience. + Portfolio-grade fixturing and prototype work tied to clinical and manufacturing readiness. Work Environment The role is based on-site in Louisville, CO, within a startup environment that is fast-paced and highly collaborative. You will have direct access to an engineering lab, 3D printers, and prototyping equipment, working closely with R&D, operations, and engineering leadership. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
