As the Wastewater Operations Manager, youu2019ll work with project staff to oversee compliance reporting, maintenance of equipment and quality control testing. Partnering with other team members and our clients, youu2019ll apply knowledge of the principles, methods and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors and related equipment, wastewater process control, permit compliance, and safe work practices. Youu2019ll also have the opportunity to: monitor, record and operate the wastewater treatment plant, recharge and SCADA system; diagnose operating problems and direct effective correction procedures; prepare required reports and maintain complete recordkeeping procedures; analyze recording instrument readings and laboratory test results and adjust various plant processes accordingly; perform plant inspections to determine efficiency of operations, cleanliness, and maintenance activities including remedial action in emergencies; supervise, evaluate and train employees and perform other duties as required.Also, as the Wastewater Operations Manager, youu2019ll oversee and implement the daily operation of the Dewatering/Biosolids Disposal program. You will oversee all activities related to sludge handling, dewatering, biosolids processing, storage, hauling, and final disposal or reuse. This role ensures full compliance with regulatory requirements, optimizes operational performance, manages contractor and vendor relationships, and leads staff involved in dewatering and biosolids operations.Key Responsibilities Oversee daily wastewater treatment plant and dewatering/biosolids operations, including primary, secondary, tertiary, disinfection, solids handling, and related systems. Monitor process performance, troubleshoot system issues, and implement corrective actions. Develop and implement operational procedures and best practices to maximize equipment uptime. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations including NPDES permit requirements and sludge processing/biosolids disposal (e.g., EPA 40 CFR Part 503). Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, sampling logs, and chain-of-custody forms. Analyze treatment performance data and adjust to improve efficiency, effluent quality, and cost-effectiveness. Supervise plant operators, dewatering operators, and support personnel. Monitor chemical feed systems (e.g., polymers, CL2, SO2) and optimize dosing for cost efficiency and performance. Work with maintenance teams to plan preventive and corrective maintenance for treatment facility, dewatering equipment, and biosolids handling systems. Evaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades, replacements, or process improvements. Manage all biosolids handling, including stabilization, thickening, storage, loading, transportation, and final disposal. Coordinate the scheduling of biosolids hauling with internal teams and external contractors. Oversee biosolids quality monitoring and reporting, including pathogen reduction, vector attraction reduction, and pollutant concentration requirements. Manage contracts for hauling, disposal, chemical supply, and equipment services. Wastewater operator certification Class IV preferred or required. Valid driveru2019s license. Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, pumping systems, SCADA, and process controls. Supervisory experience in a treatment facility or similar environment. Working knowledge of dewatering equipment (centrifuge, belt press, screw press, digesters, pumping systems). Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for biosolids (EPA Part 503). Proven leadership and communication skills.Working Conditions & Physical RequirementsSafety is a core value at Jacobs.
