Key job responsibilities As a Data Center Construction Manager, you will be part of a creative, diverse team tasked with solving fascinating problems in constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry-leading examples of energy-efficient, cost-effective designs. You will work alongside partner teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our Customers. As our Data Center Construction Manager, you will build some of the most interesting electrical and mechanical systems in the world. You will be on the construction site daily, interacting with the construction trades as Amazon's owner's representative. You will be directly responsible for driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing construction vendors and contractors building data centers. The Data Center Construction Manager will be responsible for construction project management and oversight of construction-related activities as they relate to new builds or general capital projects. This includes ownership of the project scope, quality, schedule, and budget. Some of the typical daily tasks of the Sr. Construction Manager: -Direct interface with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project close out/punch list phases. -Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy. -Create construction project scope and requests for proposals. -Perform financial analysis of construction. -Manage construction projects for specific initiatives aimed at increasing the resiliency of our data centers. -Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs associated with the construction of new data centers or optimization of existing data centers. -Manage construction documents including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing. -Ensure construction project quality control. Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management. -Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis associated with equipment failures. -Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center. Thatu2019s why youu2019ll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.Basic Qualifications- Experience constructing electrical engineering systems including large scale power distribution/generation gear and mechanical engineering systems including cooling systems - Experience in construction management or construction program management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants - Experience in construction of data center delivery (design, commissioning and construction), mission critical facilities, or equivalent industrial/manufacturing facility builds - Bacheloru2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science Degree or 18+ years relevant overall experience in lieu of degreePreferred Qualifications- Experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects with specific expertise in CWA 404 and NPDES permitting, groundwater protection, wastewater discharge, and natural and cultural resource evaluations - Experience in Project Controls Standards subject matter, including Estimating, Cost Management, Cost Forecasting, Schedule Management, Progress Measurement, Change Management, Risk Management, WBS/CBS/SBS, Cash-Flow (VOWD), and Benchmarking - Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments, environmental permit evaluations and applications, EIAs and water discharge requirements - Experience in project control (cost or schedule, or both) and formulating construction programmes, especially for infrastructure and mission critical projects both on-site and in preconstruction environments - Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
