Shenandoah Fleet has anu00a0immediate openingu00a0for a skilled diesel mechanic at our Allegheny County, Pittsburgh PA location.u00a0 The diesel mechanic is responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of the County's medium to heavy vehicle fleet.What You'll Do:- Performs journey-level repair work on wide variety of medium and heavy vehicles and equipment assigned to the vehicle maintenance shop- Completes preventive maintenance by inspecting, servicing, and correcting discrepancies in accordance with maintenance policies, directives and advisories; performs more complex repairs- Completes work order documents noting time and parts and supplies used. Verifies working order of equipment after servicing is complete.- Responds to emergency service calls and performs roadside repair.- Performs major repairs on air brakes, hydraulic systems and electrical systems- Performs road tests on vehicles and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, and to ensure proper repairs were completed- Reports work status and special problems to lead or manager in a timely manner.- Accurately records time, details, and parts of repairs- Adheres to all safety procedures - OSHA, Company and Customer standards.- Follows verbal and written instructions; meets schedule and attendance requirements; performs all physical requirements of position- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with managers, coworkers, and user departmentsWhat You'll Need:- Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to a minimum of 5 years' experience performing functions such as inspection, repair, modification or troubleshooting equipment- Graduation from an accredited technical school, apprentice program, or verified military schooling program teaching the mechanic trade preferred- Must have at least one ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck, or must obtain one ASE in Medium/Heavy Truck path within 90 days of hire- Ability to diagnose and repair all types of equipment- Use and care of required tools and equipment; must provide own tools and rollaway box- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of position- Valid commercial operator's license required for heavy equipment; must maintain current license during the period of employment, or must obtain CDL
