Overview: St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, masteru2019s, and doctoral students each year. Job Responsibilities: The School of Business invites applications and nominations for Chair of the Management and Marketing Department and a faculty member at the rank of Associate/Full Professor. The School embraces a teacheru2011scholar model and prides itself on a highu2011touch approach. Faculty are expected to contribute meaningfully across research, teaching, and service while actively engaging with students and the broader Fisher community. Chair Duties + Serve as the academic leader and representative for the department + Supervise, mentor, and tend to the well-being of 10+ full-time faculty and adjunct faculty + Manage course scheduling and faculty assignments + Monitor and support student enrollment and retention + Lead curricula development and changes in the majors and business core + Other relevant duties as outlined in the Faculty Statutes Professorial Duties + Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; assess student learning and progress + Maintain an active research agenda and produce original, disciplineu2011based publications in peeru2011reviewed journals listed in ABDC or Cabellu2019s, in alignment with AACSB u201cScholarly Academicu201d standards. + Advise and mentor students + Adopt new teaching techniques and engage students through interactive methods, experiential learning, and other innovative instructional practices. + Contribute to the development and improvement of courses, programs, and School initiatives + Collaborate with faculty, staff, alumni, and the business community to advance the Schoolu2019s mission + Provide service to the Department, School, University, profession, and broader community, and share expertise through scholarly and professional outlets Education / Experience: Required Qualifications + Proof of permanent right to work in the US on first day of employment + A terminal degree in management, marketing, or related field from an accredited institution + Must have earned tenure at another institution or minimally hold the rank of associate professor + A distinguished record of scholarship + Evidence of teaching effectiveness and the use of innovative and engaging teaching practices + Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders Preferred Qualifications + Experience with course scheduling, curriculum and program development, promotion and tenure processes, hiring, faculty mentoring, and faculty evaluations + A successful track record in leading others and inspiring and managing change + A commitment to develop and maximize faculty membersu2019 capabilities in their pursuits to achieving excellence in teaching and scholarship + Evidence of collaboration and a commitment to the Universityu2019s shared governance model + Professional experience in related fields of business + Active membership in academic and business associations/organizations + A current research record consistent with being classified as Scholarly Academic Competencies / Skills: Essential competencies and skills include: + Ability to develop and assess course learning outcomes and knowledge competencies + Conflict management and resolution + Deep respect for and engagement with students + A demonstrated commitment to the principles of multiculturalism/diversity/inclusive excellence + Ability to conduct original research and mentor others in their research endeavors + Ability to work with people with different learning/work styles and needs + Ability to connect with the business community to advance the visibility and success of the school + Ongoing professional development in pedagogy and instructional innovation. + Proficiency in technology (e.g., AI, analytical tools, instructional technologies, etc.) Work Hours: + Full-time, 9-month teaching load to be paid out in 12-month contract with light administrative duties during the summer + Availability and willingness to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities as well as to participate in and support School of Business and University events EEO Statement: It is the policy of St. John Fisher University to provide Equal Employment Opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment in accordance with the applicable federal, state, and local laws governing non-discrimination in employment in each locality in which the University has employees.
