SUMMARYThe Test Engineer IV provides senior-level technical and leadership oversight for manufacturing test operations within assigned workcells, supporting large-form assemblies (LFA) and system-level products. This role is responsible for defining, developing, and sustaining safe, robust, and efficient test strategies involving high-voltage electrical systems (480VAC / 120VAC), low-voltage controls (24VDC), Hipot testing, pressure and leak testing, and automated test solutions. The Test Engineer IV leads test engineering execution, drives design-for-testability (DFT), mentors engineering staff, and ensures all test processes meet Jabil, regulatory, and customer requirements..ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIESRecruitment and Retention:u00b7 Recruit and interview Test Engineers, Test technicians, and MFG test operators (L1 - L3).u00b7 Communicate criteria to recruiters for Test Engineer III position candidates.u00b7 Coach Test Engineers in the interviewing/hiring process.u00b7 Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.Employee and Team Development:u00b7 Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.u00b7 Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility. u00b7 Develop, validate, and maintain test engineering training curricula aligned to site technologies (HV testing, LFA, pressure systems, automation). u00b7 Mentor Test Engineers and senior technicians to deliver high-quality, safe, and repeatable test solutions. Performance Management:u00b7 Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).u00b7 Solicit ongoing feedback from Test Engineering Manager, Workcell Manager (WCM), Business Unit Director (BUD), peers and team member on team memberu2019s contribution to the Workcell team. Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team member based on feedback.u00b7 Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments. u00b7 Establish measurable goals tied to safety, FPY, test yield, uptime, cycle time, and NPI readiness. u00b7 Provide ongoing coaching based on feedback from Test Engineering Management, Workcell Managers, Quality, and Operations. u00b7 Lead performance reviews professionally and on time. u00b7 Drive continuous improvement in operational and engineering KPIs. u00b7 Coordinate engineering activities during escalations, launches, or production crises. Communication:u00b7 Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.u00b7 Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.u00b7 Ask questions; encourage input from team members.u00b7 Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESBusiness Strategy and Direction:u00b7 Know and understand the campus strategic directions.u00b7 Define, develop and implement test engineering strategies, which contribute to the campus strategic directions.u00b7 Provide regular updates to Test Engineering Manager on the execution of the strategy.Cost Management:u00b7 Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).u00b7 Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.u00b7 Provide feedback to Test Engineering Manager on cost and cost trends.TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIESu00b7 Lead the workcell team (assigned to customer) as a Lead Project Engineer. u00b7 Serve as Lead Test Engineer / Project Engineer for assigned customer workcells and programs. u00b7 Own and communicate system-level test strategies to customer engineering teams. u00b7 Design, develop, and sustain test processes covering: + 480VAC and 120VAC electrical power and functional testing + 24VDC control systems and interlock validation + Hipot / dielectric withstand testing + Pressure testing, leak detection, pre-air, and vacuum testing + Safety interlocks, emergency stop validation, and compliance checks u00b7 Drive Design for Testability (DFT) by influencing product design, schematics, P&IDs, and control logic early in NPI. u00b7 Define and validate test methods for large-form assemblies and safety-critical systems. u00b7 Lead development of custom test equipment, fixtures, and automated test scripts (Python, PLC-based logic, or equivalent). u00b7 Own validation of test equipment, including GR&R, calibration strategy, and capability studies where required. u00b7 Manage and improve system-level test performance, yield, and robustness. u00b7 Identify test coverage gaps and implement corrective actions. u00b7 Lead failure analysis, trend analysis, and root cause investigations related to test escapes or yield loss. u00b7 Support and oversee NPI readiness, including test station build, validation, and ramp support. u00b7 Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations to deploy safe, scalable test solutions. u00b7 Ensure compliance with electrical safety, pressure safety, UL/IEC requirements, and internal Jabil standards. u00b7 Enforce adherence to EHS, security, and safety policies across all test activities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bacheloru2019s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline required. Six (6) or more years of progressive experience in manufacturing test engineering, including system-level or large-form assembly testing. Demonstrated experience with high-voltage systems, safety-critical testing, automation/scripting, and cross-functional leadership. Must be able to obtain and maintain all required job-related certifications.
