Job Description

The Camp Receptionist creates a welcoming, organized, and responsive front-desk experience that supports campers, families, and staff. This role helps foster achievement for campers, builds strong relationships with parents and staff, and ensures every family feels a sense of belonging from arrival to departure. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the first point of contract by answering camp office phones and responding to parent inquiries with professionalism, warmth, and accuracy. Build positive, trust-based relationships with camper families and act as a liaison between parents and camp program staff to ensure clear communication and strong partnership. Greet families at arrival and departure, assisting with check-in and check-out processes to ensure a smooth, safe, and welcoming experience. Sort and distribute camper mail and email, helping campers stay connected to their families and reinforcing a sense of care and belonging. Manage the front desk operations, including deliveries, early departures, and late arrivals, maintaining accurate records and ensuring that camper safety protocols are followed. Support online form collection, balance tracking, postcard mailing, and general Welcome Center operations with attention to detail and timeliness. Maintain an organized, efficient Welcome Center environment that reflects the YMCA's values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Contribute to a positive camp culture by supporting staff, modeling professionalism, and helping create an environment where campers and families feel welcomed and valued. Adhere to established association standards. This job description may not be all inclusive and employees are expected to perform all other duties as necessary or assigned/directed by management. Job description and duties may be modified. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 18 years of age. High School diploma or its equivalent required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and warmly with families, campers, and staff. Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills; ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a busy, high energy environment with frequent interruptions. Detail-oriented with strong administrative and record-keeping abilities. YMCA Child Abuse Prevention training completed.
