Through the core principles of partnership, prevention, and problem-solving, BPD has contributed to both a lower crime rate and a reduction in arrests in the city.Community policing begins with positive interactions on the streets and in classrooms. It involves proactive prevention, diversion programs for at-risk youth and families, and provides pathways away from violence for those ready to make a change. BPD is working every day with the community to strengthen relationships, with a focus on building trust with youth.
