Assists with obtaining vital signs, documents chief complaintand all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history,assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures, sets upexam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures, prepares and may include administratingmedications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitionscompletely and accurately. In addition to the above, the Medical Assistant II functions more independently andcoordinates the workflow of MAswhen necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such asregistration, check-in and scheduling of patients.Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimensaccording to hospital protocolAssists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requestedRetrieves necessary equipment and suppliesAssists in patient/equipment preparationPerforms follow-up actions as directedCompletes hospital forms per protocolDocuments clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocolsRequiredHigh School Graduate/GEDCertificate Of Medical AssistantOther Completion of a US Armed Forces medical services training programComputer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patientsBasic Life Support - CPRPreferredPrevious Medical Assistant ExperienceElectronic Medical Record EMR experienceExperience in designated specialty area
