Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic (HVAC Installer) Apply today and a recruiter will reach out to you with more information Located in South Amboy, NJ Pay: $30-$40 an hour Job Description We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic (HVAC Installer) to fabricate, assemble, and install HVAC duct systems and equipment on commercial construction projects. This role requires the ability to layout from drawings, safely operate sheet metal tools, ensure precise fit-up and sealing to specification, and collaborate with foremen and other trades to meet schedule and quality standards. Responsibilities + Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork made of galvanized, stainless, and aluminum materials. + Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, and shop drawings accurately. + Install rectangular and round duct, offsets, transitions, and insulate duct systems according to SMACNA standards. + Set rooftop units (RTUs), air handlers, VAVs, dampers, and grills/registers effectively. + Measure, cut, shear, notch, and assemble sheet metal using hand and power tools. + Conduct field takeoffs, coordination, and complete punch-lists. + Ensure safe and precise rigging and hanging of duct systems, including equipment setting and connection alignment to code/specifications. Essential Skills + 3+ years of commercial HVAC sheet metal installation experience. + Proficiency with Pittsburgh machines, brakes, shears, spot welders, snips, and drills. + Knowledge of SMACNA standards, seal classes, and airflow fundamentals. + Ability to rig and hang ductwork, set equipment, and align connections to code/specifications. + Comfortable working on lifts, ladders, and roofs; able to lift 50u201375 lbs. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with TAB coordination, start-up support, and handling change orders is preferred. + OSHA 10/30 certification and aerial lift certification are advantageous. + Basic hand tools and reliable transportation are a plus.
