Job Title: Extrusion Machine Operator Job Description The Extrusion Machine Operator plays a crucial role in the extrusion department, where they will learn about products, materials, and processes. During a minimum 90-day training period, the candidate will not operate machines but will gain comprehensive knowledge about the machinery and materials. Once training is complete, the operator will be responsible for setting up and operating the extrusion machinery to apply thermoplastic material onto copper wire, ensuring the quality of the final product meets customer specifications. Responsibilities + Set up and operate extrusion machine to melt and extrude thermoplastic material onto copper wire. + Install guider and die into machine according to production requirements. + Load copper wire reels onto the back of the machine. + Handle and lift raw materials, including plastic pellets (up to 50 lbs.) and colorants (1 lb.). + Mix colorants and plastic pellets in the color mixer, then transfer mixture into the extruder hopper. + Start machine and set controls to regulate extrusion process. + Monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain product quality and meet customer specifications. + Perform routine checks and minor adjustments to ensure continuous operation. + Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area. Essential Skills + Minimum of 1 year machine operating experience, ideally in plastics, wire & cable, or extrusion. + Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. + Mechanically inclined. + Team-oriented and takes direction well. + Proficiency with calipers and micrometers. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in wire & cable manufacturing is highly desirable. + Familiarity with general production and machine operation. Why Work Here?
