Summary: Job Summary: Dynamic Cardiopulmonary Specialist responsible for delivering diagnostic pulmonary tests, therapeutic procedures, patient and user education on cardiopulmonary disease and equipment. Serves as a clinical resource by demonstrating procedural competency and providing mentorship. Ensures seamless communication across staff, physicians, patients, and departments. Coordinates comprehensive pulmonary testing while exemplifying Rushu2019s mission, vision, values, and adhering to institutional policies and standards. Other information: Required Job Qualifications: u2022 Minimum of an associateu2019s degree from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved program. u2022 Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential u2022 Active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license at start date o Applied for IL license if from out of state u2022 Active BLS u2022 Active ACLS (Adults) u2022 Active PALS (Peds) u2022 Minimum of 2 yearsu2019 experience in critical care as a Respiratory Therapist u2022 American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) Membership- obtained within 180 days of hire Preferred Job Qualifications: u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree or higher in a healthcare related field u2022 Previous PFT experience Necessary Skills: u2022 Utilize/navigate information management systems, network systems, hardware and software applications to provide testing and for troubleshooting equipment u2022 Technical skills are required to adapt equipment and procedures to patients' needs. u2022 Analytical skills are required to evaluate patients and their clinical response to testing, therapy and procedure tolerance. u2022 Customer service skills are required to effectively meet the needs of patients, families, and members of the healthcare team on an almost constant basis. u2022 Above average interpersonal skills are required to effectively meet the needs of patients, families, and members of the health care team on a continuous basis. u2022 Excellent communication skills are required for teaching and collaboration with other colleagues. Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities and Expectations: u2022 Accurately performs high-quality pulmonary function testing, interprets results and ensures that test results are transferred into the electronic medical record for physician review. u2022 Assures patient pulmonary experience adjusting test procedures as needed, including communication with the medical staff of critical patient safety concerns and providing life sustaining measures as needed. u2022 Acquire and process blood gas samples u2022 Provides all pulmonary testing and Six-Minute Walk testing as documented in Rush PFT Lab Policy and Procedure Manual. u2022 Documents work in a complete and accurate timely manner, including in the electronic patient medical record, department record, codes and bills for all services. u2022 Verifies medical record reporting as accurate and complete for patients tested on that same day. u2022 Precepts new employees and provides feedback to leadership during orientation. u2022 Provides clinical precepting of the Cardiopulmonary Program students on rotation and clearly communicates findings with faculty. u2022 Instruct staff, medical staff and designated healthcare providers in policy procedures, equipment, theory, new techniques, and department competencies. u2022 Assist with protocol or guideline development, including implementation and compliance. u2022 Provides patient/family education and disease management as requested. u2022 Participates in CQI and QA initiatives for PFT u2022 Actively engaged in improving Employee Engagement u2022 Demonstrate professionalism as a current member in good standing with AARC/ISRC.
