This role requires deep technical expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL, along with the ability to operate effectively within complex, enterprise-scale environments.The ideal candidate will contribute to major project initiatives, collaborate closely with engineering peers, product teams, and business partners, and deliver high-quality, scalable mainframe solutions. This position operates within an Agile delivery model and includes participation in an on-call rotation during business and off-hours.u00a0Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and implement mainframe-based solutions using COBOL, DB2, CICS, and JCL.- Analyze business and system requirements and translate them into high-quality technical solutions.- Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing applications in a high-availability mainframe environment.- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on technical design, delivery timelines, and project goals.- Provide production support, including participation in on-call rotations during and outside standard business hours.Required Skills & Experience- 7+ years of hands-on mainframe development experience, including: - COBOL - DB2 - CICS - JCL- Strong understanding of Agile / SDLC methodologies.- Proven ability to analyze complex problems and deliver effective solutions.- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Demonstrated experience working within large-scale, enterprise mainframe systemsNice-to-Have Qualifications- Exposure to Azure or AWS cloud environments.- Experience working in both team-driven and individual contributor roles.- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow documented processes and technical instructions.u00a0u00a0EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
