OH0713 NW Bancshares HQJob DescriptionOverviewThe Sr Direct Endorsement Residential Underwriter is responsible to perform residential loan underwriting activities related to loan request with the goal of achieving the optimal outcome for Northwest and the customer.Essential FunctionsCommunicate with customers, realtors, title companies, attorneys, and settlement agents to schedule closings, respond to inquiries, resolve issues, and obtain any documentation required to complete the loan fileInteract with Mortgage Loan Originators, Loan Production Assistants and other team members on a daily basis to resolve questions/issues, and ensure timely underwriting of loan filesManage a pipeline of working loan files to ensure loans are underwritten in a timely mannerMaintain current knowledge of mortgage loan programs, procedures, and guidelinesUse Northwest's loan origination systems and agency automated underwriting systems (Freddie Mac - Loan Product Advisor, USDA Guaranteed Underwriting System) to underwrite residential mortgage loansReview and analyze documentation submitted and used in underwriting decisions for accuracy and completenessEnsure data relating to the underwriting of loans in accurate and complete in the loan origination systemReview and analyze appraisal reports and title commitments to verify sufficient collateral and proper lien position to secure loansMaintain loan approval authority for all residential mortgage loan products offered by Northwest (conventional, portfolio, FHA, VA, USDA) Checking accuracy of all calculationsRecommend improvements to proceduresManage personal workload/workflowMeet turnaround/production goalsEnsure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulationsNavigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiencyWork as part of a teamWork with on-site equipmentEnsure adherence to appropriate investor guidelines and industry standardsQualificationsBachelor's Degree preferred3 - 5 years experience as DE Underwriter preferred5 - 6 years experience underwriting conventional loans, 3 years' experience underwriting VA and USDA Rural Housing Loans preferredWorking knowledge of residential mortgage loan productsWorking knowledge of Ellie Mae - Encompass loan origination software, Freddie Mac - Loan Product Advisor, USDA - Guaranteed Underwriting System (GUS), FHA Connection preferredStrong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to define and solve problems, establish facts and make well-reasoned decisionsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work closely with other team members is neededProficient organizational and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness a plusThe ability to work independently in a fast-paced high production environment under time constraints and to work collaboratively in a team environment managing multiple deadlines and priorities preferred#LI-MM1Northwest is an equal opportunity employer.
