Roxbury Community College's Chief of Police/Director of Public Safetyserves as the chief administrative officer and the representative ofRoxbury Community College's Police & Public Safety on campus and inlocal community. The chief is responsible for leadership in maintainingpublic safety on campus, progressive community police engagement, andracially just policing as well as directing the enforcement of allfederal, state, and local laws. Supervision: Oversees a department thatincludes the Deputy Chief of Police/Assistant Director of Public Safety,Contract Security and campus police officers when staffed. Reports to:Chief Operating Officer Required Minimum Qualifications: ? Possess aBachelor's Degree and experience suitable to fulfill the duties andresponsibilities of the position. Master's Degree preferred. ? Possessat least five years of progressively responsible leadership experiencein campus safety and protection or other law enforcement with at leastthree years of experience in a related supervisory position. ?Experience and knowledge of law enforcement policies and procedures,crime prevention, investigations, training for law enforcementpersonnel, life safety programming. ? Knowledge of budget operations andmanagement specific to a public safety agency. ? Demonstrated commitmentand understanding of fair and unbiased policing. ? Ability to adaptpolicies and procedures to police reform measures on the local, state,and federal level. ? Demonstrated ability to address community concernsin a compassionate, forthright manner and to be visible on campus and toparticipate in the life of the campus. ? Possess an understanding ofmental health issues, as well as the value of having officers trained asmental health officers and being front-line contacts in this area. ? Bea graduate of a MPTC certified Police Academy and be eligible to beappointed as a Special State Police Officer (SSPO) pursuant to MGLChapter 22, Section 63 and meet the provisions of MGL Chapter 6E. ?Possess or ability to possess a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms.Preferred Qualifications: ? Experience and knowledge of higher edsecurity and law enforcement. ? Knowledge of and experience with highereducation principles, practices and procedures. ? Documentedprofessional competence as a public safety administrator in highereducation. ? Understanding of social media platforms and their use infor community engagement, crisis management, and law enforcement
