FTE: 1.000000 Shift: Shift 1 Job Summary: This positionwill be for the Inpatient Rehab Unit. The Clinical Nurse Specialist(CNS) works collaboratively to improve the quality of patient care andpromote desired patient outcomes in the acute rehab area. Where we offercustomized, individualized rehabilitation tailored to the specific needsof those recovering from a stroke, brain injury, neurologicalconditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedicinjuries. The CNS functions as a leader within the three spheres ofimpact (Patient/Client, Nurses and Nursing Practice,Organization/System), and is an active participant on the nursingleadership team. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an advancedpractice registered nurse (APRN), who has the ability to provideintegrated, cost-effective, quality patient care management forhigh-risk populations across the continuum of care. The CNS is aclinical expert in the diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of adultsand older adults experiencing various health conditions dependent on thespecialty. The CNS designs and strategically implements population-basedprograms to enhance patient and family outcomes. Responsibilitiesinclude: clinical practice, program design/development, consultation,leadership, education, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Asan APRN, the CNS utilizes evidence-based practice concepts and nationalguidelines to positively influence patient care. The CNS functionsautonomously, and works in collaboration with Medical College ofWisconsin physicians in the department(s) to optimize the care of thespecific population being served. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCEDESCRIPTION: Previous experience as an Clinical Nurse Specialist ispreferred. Prefer experience with specialty population. EDUCATIONDESCRIPTION: A minimum of a Master's degree in Nursing from anaccredited school of nursing is required. TRAINING DESCRIPTION: Musthave completed an accredited APRN specialty certification program (i.e.AGCNS-BC, PMHNP) within 6 months of hire. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:Effective leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizationalskills. Effective project management skills also preferred. LICENSUREDESCRIPTION: This position requires: 1) current state of WisconsinRegistered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from aparticipating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact), 2) Licensureas an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) must be obtained within12 months of hire. 3) Specialty certification is required and must beobtained within 6 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) BasicLife Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approvedequivalent is required within 90 days of hire. Medicaid and Medicare(PECOS) enrollment is required.
