Employment Type: Part time Shift: Day Shift Description: Per Diem Day Shift This position will service off-site St. Joseph's Health locations MISSION STATEMENT: We, St Joseph's Health and Trinity Health, serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities. POSITION SUMMARY: The locksmith position is based on responsibility of maintaining the entire facility's lock and key system. As a member of the maintenance force, the candidate installs, maintains and repairs locks and keys and other door or gate hardware, and compiles and maintains related records. Also assists in hanging doors, door closers and adjustments to meet codes. Performs other duties as assigned to assist in achieving overall division and hospital goals. EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: High school Diploma or GED and certificate of completion related to commercial and institutional locksmithing. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Excellent interpersonal skills. 2 years Locksmith experience and 3 years Carpentry experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Clinical and outdoor setting. Exposure Class I. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium work: standing, walking, sitting, lifting (minimum of 50lb), carrying, pushing, pulling. Exposure to adverse working conditions such as noise, odors, temperature variations, communicable diseases. WORK CONTACT GROUP: All services, medical staff, patients, visitors, contractors, vendors, various regulatory agencies. SUPERVISED BY: Manager and Regional Director of Security SUPERVISES: None CAREER PATH: Coordinator of Services General and Job Specific Performance Criteria: + All repair, maintenance, installation and record keeping activities concerning locking mechanism. + Uses a variety of small hand and bench tools to repair and install locks, set lock cylinders, change lock combinations, manufactures parts of lock mechanisms and open jammed locks. + Maintains and replenishes locksmith supplies + Estimates materials needed to establish and maintain the lock and key system. + Establishes and maintains an extensive record system in order to avoid key and lock duplication and to insure the required security of the facility and its contents for purposes of security systems and key control. The Locksmith is accountable to the Manager and Regional Director of Security. + Performs carpentry tasks related to the lock and key system also assist in hanging doors, closers and adjustments to meet codes. Orientation and instruction to occur during employment. + Periodically performs carpentry and maintenance tasks in working with other journeymen in the maintenance force. + Demonstrates adequate knowledge of all work and projects in his area of responsibility. + Evaluates all problems and prioritizes their urgency and schedules repairs. + Evaluates time required for work and completes tasks within a functional work schedule. + Requires minimal supervision + Remains abreast of the latest techniques associated with the locksmith field. + Suggests changes to improve procedures + Makes independent decisions and judgements when applicable Our Commitment Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
