Job DescriptionKearney & Company is seeking a Database Architect SME to join our team. The Database Architect SME is responsible for designing and implementing database solutions that enable accurate data extraction, transformation, and comparison between Sub-Ledger and General Ledger (GL) systems. This role supports detailed audit research and analysis by developing reliable, repeatable comparison tools and data structures that facilitate reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and audit remediation. Responsibilities include but not limited to:Design and maintain database architectures to support extraction, storage, and analysis of financial data from Sub-Ledger and General Ledger systems.Develop data models that enable efficient reconciliation, traceability, and auditability of financial transactions.Ensure database designs support scalability, performance, and data integrity.Develop and optimize data extraction processes from source systems, including sub-ledgers and general ledger environments.Perform data transformation and normalization to enable accurate cross-system comparisons.Ensure extracted data aligns with accounting structures, chart of accounts, and reporting requirements.Build automated or semi-automated tools to compare sub-ledger and general ledger data.Design queries, views, and scripts to identify discrepancies, variances, and anomalies.Enable drill-down capabilities to trace discrepancies to source transactions.Implement data validation and reconciliation controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of extracted data.Develop technical documentation describing database structures, extraction logic, data assumptions, mappings, transformation logic, and comparison methodologies.Support testing and validation of comparison tools to confirm audit reliability.Support auditors and financial analysts by providing data extracts, comparison outputs, and technical explanations.QualificationsBachelor's degreeMinimum 5 years of relevant designing and managing databases, preferably in support of financial or audit-related analyticsStrong proficiency in SQL and database architecture principlesStrong proficiency in Databricks and/or Palantir FoundryExperience extracting, transforming, and reconciling data across multiple systemsFamiliarity with financial systems, Sub-Ledgers, and General Ledger structuresAbility to obtain a U.S. secret level security clearance (requires US CitizenshipPreferred QualificationsExperience working in regulated or audited financial environmentsExperience supporting financial audits or audit-readiness initiativesExperience supporting large enterprise financial systems (e.g., ERP environments, DEAMS)Experience working in regulated, secure, Department of Defense or other federal agency environmentsKnowledge of Air Force financial and logistics systems, such as:Automated Disbursing System (ADS)Air Force Equipment Management System (AFEMS)Automated Funds Management (AFM)Central Disbursing System (CDS)Civilian Pay Accounting Interface System (CPAIS)Central Procurement Accounting System (CPAS)Commanders' Resource Integration System (CRIS)Defense Cash Accountability System (DCAS)Defense Cash Management System (DCMS)Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS)Defense Enterprise Accounting System (DEAMS)Defense Departmental Reporting System (DDRS)Deployable Disbursing System (DDS)Defense Transaction Interface Module (DTIM)Financial Management Suite (FMSuite)General Accounting and Finance System Base Level (GAFS-BL)General Accounting and Finance System Re-Engineered (GAFS-R)Integrated Accounts Payable System (IAPS)Job Order Cost Accounting System II (JOCAS II)Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE)Reserve Travel System (RTS)Standard Base Supply System (SBSS)Standard Materiel
