Phlebotomist II with pay of $24/ hr Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist II to join our team. The primary role of this position is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. + Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate and update patient information as required. + Collect and store specimens following established procedures. + Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients. + Demonstrate proficiency with straight needles and butterfly needles. + Understand all physicians' orders thoroughly. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. + Package specimens properly for transport. + Store specimen samples at the required temperature and in appropriate containers. + Follow specific procedures necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. + Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High School Diploma or GED. + 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy, blood draws, and venipuncture. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fairfax, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
