Requisition ID: 179959 Job Level: Executive Home District/Group: Kiewit Energy District Department: Field Operations Market: OGC Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview Kiewit Energy District is looking for a successful Area Manager that will be responsible for project development, estimate, and project sponsorship for EPC projects to the Oil, Gas, & Chemical Construction market. He or She will develop and maintain trusting relationships with key client decision makers. The candidate will need to be able to lead a team to develop accurate EPC estimates with appropriate risk analysis and winning execution strategies. He or She will be responsible for kicking off projects once awarded and provide oversight and direction for the project team with regard to safety, quality, project controls, financials, and client relationship partnering to assure a successful project. Candidate will need the capacity to manage several estimates and projects simultaneously in the $100M to $1B size range or single $1B+ estimates and projects. District Overview Kiewit Energy U.S. is the center of our Oil, Gas and Chemical market. Our team provides comprehensive engineering, procurement and construction services to the oil, gas, refining chemicals, petrochemicals, biofuels and other process industries. We aim to position ourselves as the company's experts in EPC coordination for all aspects of Kiewit's oil, gas and chemical operations across the United States. As the Area Manager you will act as the representative of the organization, and play a vital leadership role through: u2022 Providing 'championship' for the projects throughout the US. region. u2022 Providing business expertise and guidance to the Project Manager(s). u2022 Acting as the link between the project owners, the business community and key management decision making groups u2022 Acting as an arbitrator and making decisions that may be beyond the authority of the Project Manager u2022 Ensuring that the business need is valid, correctly prioritized and project is properly launched u2022 Ensuring that the projects remains a viable business proposition u2022 Ensuring changes to the projects are properly managed and risks are assessed u2022 Establishing the project organization, roles and reporting structure u2022 Ensuring the project is following all Safety Guidelines and policies u2022 Approving key project deliverables u2022 Initiating project reviews and audits and supporting the process of review with project team u2022 Identify, assess, and inform the District of internal and external risks and issues that affect the business. u2022 Use logic, data and experience to recognize conflicts and facilitate solutions. u2022 Understand and prioritize the overall quality and safety of the project, the methods used to develop it and the end product. u2022 Work closely with Get Work and Build Work teams and other internal departments ensuring maximum exposure of the Companyu2019s capabilities, including an understanding of the offerings of other Kiewit business units and the presentation of those capabilities when appropriate. u2022 Communicate effectively with all stakeholders including the client, vendors, and subcontractors. u2022 Sponsor business development pursuits, key partnerships, strategy, and initiatives, including development and review of proposals and estimates. u2022 Drive business growth through expanding service offerings within existing clients. u2022 Champion communication with clients and promote client partner culture in collaboration with business development team. u2022 Presents ideas in a persuasive and compelling way; gains support and buy-in without demanding it; influences others to the desired course of action. u2022 Actively collaborate in development of business planning and market strategy u2022 Champion innovation and continuous improvement; drive efficiency and productivity and seek ways to improve customer satisfaction and employee engagement. u2022 Identify, evaluate, and mitigate operating risks inherent in the business that could materially impact the companyu2019s reputation and/or operating results. u2022 Build strong relationship with other Operational Leaders of the District and foster effective teamwork between leadership and staff. u2022 Develop our people and provide mentorship to future builders by sharing knowledge, experiences and knowing the companyu2019s learning and developmental resources. Qualifications u2022 Bacheloru2019s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business preferred. u2022 20+ years of relevant experience in construction or engineering leadership to the Oil, Gas, & Chemical (OGC) market. u2022 Experienced in contract negotiation in the OGC market for engineering, construction and EPC project work. u2022 Experience preferred in OGC construction operations and/or operations management. u2022 Able to rapidly develop strategies and tactical plans to position Kiewit in these markets. u2022 The successful candidate will be innovative and have the ability to perceive business opportunities and work closely with company management in developing and executing strategies which capitalize on these opportunities. u2022 Must possess a professional demeanor that builds trusting relationships. u2022 Strong client negotiation skills. u2022 Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence in taking initiative. u2022 Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity. u2022 Excellent written and oral communication skills. u2022 Interact effectively both professionally and socially with people of all levels. u2022 Aggressive about career advancement through results based performance. u2022 Individual must conduct himself/herself in a manner which will reflect favorably upon the company, enhance its reputation and promote good will.
