As an Supervisory Immigration Services Officer, you will conduct and oversee the planning of independent research regarding the eligibility entitlements of persons seeking immigration benefits,employment, and/or legal status under the Immigration and Nationality Act. Responsibilities Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, within Portland Field Office and are assigned based on the need of the agency. Research and make case determinations, hearing and adjudicating appeals, and make decisions on reopening cases and whether to reconsider cases. Provide technical and administrative advice to staff who examine applications and petitions for immigration benefits, supporting documentation and related files or automated records to determine whether requested actions meet governing regulations. Respond to applicant's questions or resolve problems through the application of established methods and criteria without causing unnecessary delays to either the applicant or the organization. Assign work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Plan work to be completed by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and set target dates for work completion.
