Do you thrive in field environments where your leadership and technical expertise directly influence project outcomes?CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking two Senior Inspectors to join our Construction Inspection Team in Columbia, SC. In this position, you will play a critical role in evaluating construction work, resolving field issues, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements. This opportunity allows you to apply your expertise on complex transportation projects while supporting junior inspectors and collaborating closely with project teams to deliver safe, reliable infrastructure.Monitor construction of transportation infrastructure projects to ensure full compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standardsReview drawings, submittals, and construction documents; verify materials, methods, and work sequences meet requirementsDocument field observations, measurements, and computations to determine acceptability of completed work and support progress payment verificationIdentify nonconforming work, evaluate proposed corrective measures, and recommend acceptance or rejectionCoordinate daily with owners, contractors, and local authorities; serve as the primary on‑site contact for construction‑related issuesPrepare clear daily reports, maintain accurate project records, and support QA testing, surveys, and constructability reviewsLead project meetings, guide administrative documentation, and mentor entry‑level inspectors to support successful project deliveryHigh School Diploma required; Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related technical field preferredMinimum of 7 years of related construction observation experience requiredStrong understanding of construction techniques, contract documents, and industry standards with the ability to interpret client contractsAbility to work independently on complex projects as well as collaboratively within a team; willingness to guide entry level staffExcellent communication skills and strong mathematics skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Valid driver’s license required; extensive travel may be requiredACI and South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Earthwork and Concrete Roadway certifications preferredLead with impact by ensuring construction meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainabilityAdvance your career in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment committed to excellenceCurious about the impactful work our Construction Inspection team is doing?
