This supervisory position oversees dock operations and employees engaged in cleaning dock, fuel dock, and flare dock. This shoreside position does not involve or requireservice as a crew member on any specific vesselor barge.Oversee dock operations and its employees for cleaningdock, fueldock, and flaredock.Handle communications between cleaning coordinators, tower/dispatch, and within the facility.Ensure correct data is documented on all forms,paperand digital.Work daily withcleaningcoordinator for stripping candidates andbargedue dates.Help push Kirby’s safety messages.Ensure all employees are working safely.Ensure all employees follow Kirby policies and use correct personal protective equipment.Work with management to maximize dock efficiency.Look for ways to reduce delays in active operations.Oversee gauging tanks, trailers, and totes for daily reports.Oversee loading totes asrequired, label containers and trailers asrequired.Ensure proper labeling of containers and trailers.Help ensure all equipment ismaintainedand in good working order including pumps, hoses, blowers, forklift, crane.Maintain gaugingreport, waste inventories, AST Inspection checklist, rain/storm water report, and collect gas meter readingand send to Administrative Assistant and file.All other duties as assigned.Organized, detail-oriented, and accurate.Ability to manage multiple priorities.Advanced knowledge and use of computer software including Outlook e-mail, Oracle, Oasis, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, with an emphasis on Access.Competencies:Teamwork: Collaboration, the ability to work effectively with others, and a positive attitude towards teamwork.Adaptability: Adjusting to changing situations and priorities, being flexible, and learning quickly.Integrity: Maintaining ethical standards, acting with honesty and respect, and being accountable.Initiative: Taking proactive steps, identifying opportunities, and going above and beyond expectations.Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, active listening, and the ability to convey information clearly.Education:High school diploma or GED.Experience:Preferred 1+ years of barge cleaning experience.Special Requirements:No special requirementsPhysical Activities & Requirements:Employee will be subject to a physical examination by a Kirby Corporation-appointed physician in the event Kirby Corporation extends a conditional offer of employment.Ability to walk 2-3 miles per day.Ability to step vertical heigh differential approximately two feet vertical and two feet horizontal.Ability to step across, up, down, or over an obstacle to gain access to docks from the barge to the boat or from boat to the dock.Ability to extend arms fully, throughout a normal range of motion both in a horizontal and vertical plane.Ability to throw and catch lines.Ability to climb 25-30 feet, 90-degree vertical ladder.Ability to lift approximately 60-75 pounds and carry it approximately 500 feet.Ability to pass pulmonary function test with a minimum score of 80% with physician’s approval.Ability to perform all duties while wearing personal protective equipment.Working Conditions:Work 12-hour rotating shifts.Work seven days on then three days off and then, seven nights off then four days off.Duties primarily take place at the dock with occasional daytime boarding of boats/barges. Typically, does not require overnight stays on boats/barges.May be exposed to harsh natural elements, such as intense heat, freezing cold, rain, ice, sleet, and various other environmental conditions.
