Rotating Equipment Engineer We are seeking a skilled Rotating Equipment Engineer to lead the selection, specification, and technical evaluation of engine-driven equipment packages such as gas and diesel engines driving compressors, pumps, and generators. This role involves developing and reviewing datasheets, specifications, and requisitions for rotating equipment and packaged systems, as well as performing technical bid evaluations and providing vendor recommendations. Responsibilities + Lead the selection, specification, and technical evaluation of engine-driven equipment packages. + Develop and review datasheets, specifications, and requisitions for rotating equipment. + Perform technical bid evaluations and provide vendor recommendations. + Review vendor drawings, calculations, and documentation including performance curves and operating envelopes, torsional and lateral vibration analyses, and mechanical design. + Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards such as API and local regulations. + Develop contract-specific procedures for design, installation, operation, and maintenance of rotating equipment packages. + Assist in the development and review of controls narratives and assist with control checks/testing for rotating equipment packages. + Analyze and implement industry standard test procedures and customer-supplied information as related to contract-specific testing requirements. + Ensure the reliable and safe operation of rotating machinery. + Support alignment, mounting, foundation, and skid design considerations. + Develop maintenance strategies, conduct failure analysis, and work on predictive and preventive maintenance programs. + Diagnose and resolve problems with rotating equipment to minimize downtime and production losses. + Write detailed equipment specifications and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements and safety standards. + Oversee the testing and commissioning of rotating equipment to ensure it operates as intended. + Create and maintain work instructions for consistent testing. + Propose safety and testing improvements to the package design, installation, and operation. + Stress working safely by following OSHA and company safety rules and regulations. Essential Skills + Rotating Equipment Engineering Experience + Large Engine Experience (2-5 thousand horsepower engine size, diesel or natural gas) + Experience in the oil and gas industry or data center construction projects + Excellent customer service etiquette + Proficient multitasking skills + Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, suppliers, and internal teams + Ability to troubleshoot, test, and diagnose errors and technical problems + Solution-oriented with the capacity to resolve escalated issues + Strong organizational skills + General knowledge of API standards and code requirements Additional Skills & Qualifications + Engine Driven Reciprocating, rotary screw, and centrifugal compressor design & operation + Other rotating equipment such as pumps, gears, motors, steam turbines, turbo-expanders, and generators + Prepare Controls Narratives + Knowledge of NEC and other international electrical codes such as IEC and CSA + Ability to operate with minimal direct supervision Work Environment The ideal candidate will work in a very clean shop in Buffalo, with the possibility of working fully remote and traveling to Buffalo for one week each month. The company produces compressors for the industry but is in need of expertise in compressors with gas engines. There is currently one other rotating equipment engineer on staff who lacks experience with gas engines Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Buffalo, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
